The situation was made even more bitter for the North London club by the fact that Gibbs-White, one of the goalscorers, had been a transfer target for the Spurs in the summer. Fan frustration was palpable, with many leaving the stadium after the second goal in the 62nd minute.
With this result, Tottenham remains the only Premier League team without a win in 2026, accumulating five draws and eight losses. This negative streak of 13 winless league games equals a club record from 1912. Manager Igor Tudor's future also appears increasingly uncertain. In his first seven games in charge, he has already accumulated five defeats, with only one win and one draw. The victory came in the second leg of the Champions League last-16 against Atletico Madrid, and along with a draw against Liverpool, it likely bought the coach some extra time in the role.
