One of boxing's most enduring talents hopes his latest career move will spark the long-awaited transition to contender status.
BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Brandun Lee is the latest notable boxer to sign with Zuffa Boxing. The news was revealed by Lee himself, who informed "ES News" of the development while in training camp with his head coach, Robert Garcia. A precise timeline for Lee's debut with the rapidly expanding promotional company has not yet been provided. American media reports suggest he is expected to appear at one of Zuffa's upcoming events in the spring.
Lee, with a record of 30-0 (23 KOs), is a California-born boxer of Korean and Mexican heritage who has long established himself as one of the sport's most promising talents. However, his career progression seemed to stall, beginning with his points victory over Zachary Ochoa in April 2022 in Arlington, Texas. His performance was solid enough, though the fight going the distance ended his streak of 15 consecutive knockouts.
Since that night, only five bouts have followed, with all but one decided by the judges' scorecards. Three of Lee's last four fights were scheduled for just eight rounds, despite him having long since moved to the 10-round format and appearing on the cusp of title contention.
A more significant life event for Lee, however, was the completion of his higher education. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) in 2025, shortly before returning to the ring for his most recent bout.
Lee outpointed Elias Araujo in an eight-round contest on June 21 last year in Newark, New Jersey. The fight took place slightly above the junior welterweight limit (140 lbs), where he has spent his entire nine-year career.
That will change with his upcoming debut for Zuffa, which will be contested at welterweight. Given the available boxers in that division, Lee could quickly become a contender for the company's first welterweight title once the Zuffa belt is introduced in that weight class.
The acquisition of Lee strengthens Zuffa's welterweight roster, which includes British star Conor Benn and rising contender Ricardo Salas.
