It's not the first time, and certainly won't be the last, that Pep Guardiola has sung Bernardo Silva's praises.
The difference after Manchester City's 3-0 victory over Fulham was that the manager didn't even let the journalist finish their question about the Portuguese star.
“When it comes to pressing, it seems you ask Bernardo to do a lot of work, with so many other players…” the journalist began at the press conference, only to be cut off.
“No. He is irreplaceable. When Bernardo can't play there, we have to change the system. He is irreplaceable. First, he presses the goalkeeper, then he runs to build up play with Rodri. And sometimes he goes to the right, at Anfield, to deliver crosses or passes to win the game. That's Bernardo,” he summarized.
Another Portuguese player who earned praise was Matheus Nunes, whom the Catalan coach has transformed into a right-back, and who was instrumental in the second goal.
“I always told Matheus: you have incredible pace, why don't you push forward more often? Today [in the build-up to the 2-0 goal], he accelerated, made an incredible diagonal pass, Haaland held it up, and then came the pass to Semenyo, and O’Reilly made the difference,” he highlighted.
