Just a few days ago, Crystal Palace secured their first victory in 13 matches, and Londoners were hopeful it marked the beginning of a positive run. However, the Eagles suffered a shocking defeat to relegation-threatened Burnley. Oliver Glasner's side were at home and held a two-goal lead by the 33rd minute. Yet, the visitors staged an incredible comeback before halftime, scoring three goals in just seven minutes to clinch a dramatic 3-2 win. This was Burnley's fourth league victory of the season and their first since late October, though they remain second-to-last in the standings.
Record signing Jørgen Strand Larsen made his debut at Selhurst Park and did not disappoint. He opened the scoring in the 17th minute after an assist from Adam Wharton. The Norwegian doubled Palace's lead in the 33rd minute with a superb header, capitalizing on a cross from Lerma.
It appeared the Eagles were in complete control, with the visitors failing to register a shot on target for much of the first half. However, Burnley orchestrated an astonishing turnaround at the end of the first period. Hannibal Mejbri pulled one back with a fine strike in the 40th minute, and Jayden Anthony equalized four minutes later. The home players protested that the ball had touched Ugochukwu's hand in the build-up to the second goal, but it was allowed to stand. In first-half stoppage time, an own goal completed the comeback. Henresen saved a header from Humphries, but the ball ricocheted off Lerma's leg and into the net.
After the break, Crystal Palace dominated possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances. They did have an opportunity to level the score when Daichi Kamada met a cross from Muñoz, but his close-range header sailed wide of the goal.
