With six goals since the turn of the year, Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal's striker and former Sporting frontman, is the Premier League's top scorer in 2026. Last Saturday, against Sunderland, he bagged another brace, and after the Gunners' 3-0 victory, he stated that he still has room to grow and discussed his move to London last summer.
"I can always improve. I'm not a complete player and the best in every aspect. It's a good feeling for a footballer because you can always do better," he began in the aftermath of the match. "Of course, I'm pleased to contribute with goals, I'm happy, but there are still many games left. We have to keep winning games; there's a lot to play for," he continued.
Gyokeres is currently enjoying his best form since arriving in North London. The Swede confessed that the move wasn't easy, but he maintained the belief that he would reach his desired level. "It's a lot. I changed everything in my life, and adapting as quickly as possible was a challenge. We kept winning, which is the most important thing, and of course, you always want to perform well personally. I believed and kept doing the right things to show my best," he explained.
"I tried not to change my process too much, because if what I was doing was working, I thought the most important thing was to continue. Of course, I adapted to the game we play now, but I kept believing. You can always look at what you've already done, but you have to go into games with the mentality you had when you were scoring. I think that's the most important thing," he concluded.
