Germany's Max Langenhan has claimed the Olympic gold medal in men's luge at the Milan-Cortina Games. The reigning world champion added the most prestigious title of his career, succeeding his compatriot Johannes Ludwig, who won the discipline in Beijing four years ago.
Langenhan set a new track record at Cortina d'Ampezzo in his very first run on Saturday, clocking 52.924 seconds. He left no doubt about his dominance, triumphing with a total time of 3:31.191 minutes. This marks Germany's first gold medal at Milan-Cortina, adding to their previous silver and bronze.
The silver medal went to Austria's Jonas Müller, the 2023 world champion, who finished 0.596 seconds behind Langenhan.
Italy's Dominik Fischnaller secured the bronze, trailing Langenhan by 0.934 seconds. This is Fischnaller's second Olympic bronze, having also finished third at the Beijing Games.
