As expected, the Premier League tops the charts, but there are several surprises in the top-10 ranking, based on figures from Transfermarkt.

The Brasileirão's position stands out, with its spending naturally boosted by Flamengo's historic acquisition of Lucas Paquetá. Major League Soccer (MLS), whose transfer window is still open, also features prominently.

La Liga, on the other hand, only appears in eighth place—and almost half (46%) of its total outlay was due to Ademola Lookman's move to Atlético Madrid! Portugal's Primeira Liga rounds out the list in 10th position, with Luís Guilherme's signing for Sporting being the most expensive winter window transfer in Portuguese territory.
