Manchester City midfielder Claudio Echeverri has joined Girona on loan until the end of the season, the Spanish club's press office announced.

Echeverri was previously on loan at Bayer Leverkusen since August 2025. However, the 20-year-old Argentine failed to establish himself there, making only 11 appearances for the "Werkself" across all competitions, registering just one assist. His contract with Manchester City runs until the summer of 2028.

"I spoke with Míchel, and it was very good that I did, because it gave me the confidence to come here. I will try to improve and help the team in any way I can here in La Liga, which is a very tough competition. I also spoke with Aleix García and Pep Guardiola, and they told me many good things about the club and the city. They advised me to come here because of the attitude and what I would learn," Echeverri told his new team's website.

After 20 rounds of the Spanish championship, Girona currently sits in 9th place with 24 points.
