Tottenham have officially confirmed the transfer of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid. The North London club will pay £34 million for the English midfielder, announcing he has signed a long-term contract. According to Sky Sports, the deal is for five and a half years.

Aston Villa also pursued Gallagher, negotiating a loan deal with an option to buy, but the player himself opted for Tottenham. The Spurs accelerated their efforts after it became clear that Rodrigo Bentancur would miss most of the remaining matches until the end of the season.

"I'm so happy and excited to be here, to take the next step in my career at an incredible club. I wanted to be a Tottenham player, and thankfully the club felt the same way. It was very easy, it happened very quickly, and I'm ready to get out on the pitch."

"I know how great the fans are, I'm really happy to be a part of this here, and I want us to create special moments and memories together," the 25-year-old Gallagher told Tottenham's official website.

"Conor is a top midfielder, for whom we worked tirelessly to bring in. He is still young, so there is plenty of room for improvement, but he also has immense experience in the Premier League, La Liga, and with the England national team. Conor has captained teams, so he will bring leadership, maturity, character, and personality to our dressing room," added London manager Thomas Frank.

Atletico signed Gallagher from Chelsea in 2024 for £38 million. The midfielder made 77 appearances in the red and white shirt, scoring 7 goals and providing 7 assists.
