Liverpool defender Conor Bradley has undergone surgery for a knee injury sustained during last week's 0-0 Premier League draw against Arsenal, the club's press office announced. It is likely that the 22-year-old right-back will not feature again for the Reds this season.

“This is a tough blow, but the operation is done, so my comeback starts now. It won’t be soon, but I’m already eager to play for Liverpool and Northern Ireland again. Thanks for all the support,” Bradley posted on Instagram.

The defender has started in 12 of his 15 league appearances this season. Conor Bradley also captains the Northern Ireland national team, for whom he has 30 caps and 4 goals. It appears he will miss the World Cup playoff on March 26, where Northern Ireland will face Italy. The winner of that clash will compete for a spot at the World Cup against either Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina. Liverpool currently sits fourth in the Premier League with 35 points, 14 behind leaders Arsenal.
