Days after Ruben Amorim's official dismissal, the Portuguese manager's departure from Manchester United continues to generate significant buzz in England, particularly concerning the club's football director, Jason Wilcox.
According to The Sun, Wilcox's description of his role at the Red Devils reportedly left the coach "furious." Sources within the club are said to have revealed that Wilcox referred to himself as a "manager" and emphasized that Amorim was merely the "coach."
It remains unclear, the publication states, whether Wilcox used this exact phrase directly to Amorim during their infamous meeting last Friday, when the Portuguese coach reportedly "exploded." However, Amorim is believed to have become aware of the football director's comments, which led to his statements after the 1-1 draw at Leeds, where the former Sporting boss demanded to be referred to as the club's "manager" and not just the "head coach."
Amorim notably used the word "manager" four times in response to three different questions during the Elland Road press conference.
As a result, the British newspaper highlights, a Manchester United fan group, 'The 58', expressed their displeasure with Wilcox's attitude, indicating a vote of no confidence in the football director who is currently with the Red Devils.
