Andrea Kimi Antonelli has revealed his favorite moment from his rookie Formula 1 season, a year that featured some impressive highlights alongside a fair share of youthful errors from the young Italian.
The Mercedes junior driver kicked off his season with a stellar performance in the rain-soaked Melbourne race, finishing fourth. This was followed by several other strong outings before the F1 circus returned to Europe. On the Old Continent, Antonelli faced considerable challenges, scoring just three points over nine weekends before regaining his early-season form after the European leg of the championship.
The Italian concluded the season in seventh place overall with a total of 150 points and three podium finishes in the main races. Additionally, he secured pole position for the Miami Sprint and finished second in the sprint race in Brazil. But what was Antonelli's favorite moment from his debut season? He answered that question himself in an interview with the official Formula 1 website.
"Obviously, it was a season of ups and downs, but I had a very strong second half of the championship. I definitely took away a lot of positives, despite the difficult moments. I would say I learned a lot and grew a lot as a person, I matured. It's hard to pick one favorite moment; I would say the whole adventure was my favorite part. Despite the tough times, which weren't very pleasant, I believe I grew a lot as a person. If I had to choose one moment, I'd say the first race in Melbourne was very special because it was my debut. After that, the pole position for the Miami Sprint and the podiums in Canada, Brazil, and Las Vegas stand out. There were many great moments, but the entire journey was incredible, and it helped me grow a lot as a driver and a person," Antonelli stated.
