Max Verstappen narrowly missed out on his fifth consecutive Formula 1 World Championship in the 2025 season, finishing just two points behind new world champion Lando Norris, despite securing more race victories than the Briton throughout the campaign.

The four-time world champion recorded a total of eight wins, one more than Norris, who concluded his championship season with seven. Given these statistics, it's no surprise that Verstappen also led the most laps during the season, spending a remarkable 454 laps at the front of the pack.

In contrast, Norris led for only 373 laps and, besides Verstappen, was also outpaced in this metric by his teammate Oscar Piastri. The Australian, who finished third in the overall standings behind Norris and Verstappen, registered 452 laps at the head of the field.

Beyond Verstappen, Piastri, and Norris, five other drivers recorded laps led during the 2025 season: George Russell (103), Charles Leclerc (48), Andrea Kimi Antonelli (11), Lewis Hamilton (2), and Alex Albon (1).
