In a match decided by fine margins at the City Ground, Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche lashed out at referee Rob Jones and VAR, citing "incomprehensible decisions" that he believes cost his team a positive result against Manchester City.
"In my opinion, it was a game that presented no difficulty for the referee or VAR. Nevertheless, their decisions were what ultimately determined the outcome," Dyche stated emphatically.
VAR reviewed Manchester City's goal but concluded there was no "clear and obvious error" in the referee's initial decision, thus validating the goal. This view was supported by former international assistant referee Darren Cann, who described the incident as marginal.
Regarding Dias's challenge on Igor Jesus, Cann judged that the contact was not forceful enough to warrant a second yellow card. "Just because a player has already received a yellow card doesn't mean every subsequent foul must result in a sending off," he explained.
