In early November, Audi unveiled a preliminary presentation of the livery they intend to use for their inaugural Formula 1 season in 2026.

At the time, the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer announced that their 2026 car would be named the R26. However, Formula 1 history already features an R26 chassis, which, to top it all off, secured a championship double. This was Renault's 2006 car, which propelled Fernando Alonso to his second world title, while the Spaniard and Giancarlo Fisichella also delivered the French team's second consecutive Constructors' Championship.

It remains unclear whether this will pose any legal issues for Audi, potentially forcing the German team to change their car's name. Even if it doesn't, it would certainly be peculiar in the sport's history to have two cars with the same name belonging to two different teams.
