West Ham secured a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United, and after the final whistle, Hammers manager Nuno Espírito Santo was full of praise for his London-based squad.
"We have to be proud of what we did throughout the entire game. The players worked incredibly hard. We should be happy," the Portuguese coach began, commending his team. "The goal we conceded was from a deflection; it had nothing to do with our organization. The hard work was evident. Our defensive line did a very positive job," he emphasized.
This was a crucial point for West Ham, who now sit two points behind Leeds, currently 17th and the first team above the relegation zone. "It's important because we've come from a difficult position. We're proud to have achieved something. We could have even taken all three points. We're trying to instill a sense of urgency with our results, seeking better performances. I believe that, especially in the second half, we caused Manchester United a lot of problems," he concluded.
