A fiercely contested all-Portuguese affair ended with honors even. Manchester United, featuring Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot in the starting XI, initially took the lead. However, a goal from Magassa secured a draw for Nuno Espírito Santo's West Ham, who started Mateus Fernandes, in this Premier League Matchday 14 clash, finishing 1-1.

The game began with few clear-cut chances. Manchester United dominated possession early on but soon allowed West Ham to grow into the match, with the Hammers playing more directly and winning more duels. Nevertheless, the Red Devils registered the first shot on target: a curling effort from Mbeumo that forced Areola into a diving save.

That moment opened the floodgates for dangerous opportunities at both ends. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who was repeatedly involved in crucial interventions, cleared Zirkzee's shot off the line, preventing the opener. In the ensuing scramble, Bruno Fernandes nearly scored a spectacular goal. The Hammers responded swiftly, with a quick transition almost sending Jarrod Bowen through on goal, but Luke Shaw intercepted Wilson's pass. Moments later, Wan-Bissaka again slid in to deny Matheus Cunha a shot, and on the counter-attack, Shaw blunted Bowen's effort, ensuring it lacked the power to beat Lammens.

All this unfolded within an 11-minute spell where United, despite their superiority, couldn't break the deadlock. That moment was reserved for the second half, coming with the very first shot on target after the restart. Diogo Dalot found himself in the right place at the right time to receive the ball and, with a swift turn, placed it beyond the reach of any defender. In this distinctly Portuguese encounter, it was the Portuguese international who opened the scoring.

With the lead and more possession, Ruben Amorim sought to shore up his defense. Ugarte came on to partner Casemiro, Dorgu replaced Dalot, and Mount took Matheus Cunha's place, who was recently returning from injury. United maintained possession but, as throughout the match, allowed the occasional opposition transition, albeit sporadically. One such moment, however, proved fatal.

In the 84th minute, following a corner, Bowen forced Mazraoui to clear off the line. However, the ball fell to Magassa, who, on the rebound, silenced Old Trafford. It was an equalizer at a time when Amorim had no attacking options left to deploy. West Ham didn't let up, and Bowen even delivered a dangerous cross into the box, which Diallo cleared. The added time saw increased pressure from Manchester United, but they ultimately couldn't find a winning goal.

This marks Manchester United's fourth game without a win in their last five, squandering an opportunity to climb into the UEFA Champions League qualification spots. Ruben Amorim's side had more possession and more shots but once again demonstrated a lack of creativity and solutions. West Ham, while not superior, patiently waited for Manchester United, played on the counter, and proved incredibly effective, scoring the equalizer with their only shot on target in the second half.
