Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has revealed the intense desire he had to join Manchester City before ultimately making the move to Stamford Bridge. The Spaniard admitted he was even prepared to "crawl on his knees" to work under Pep Guardiola.
"Manchester City wanted to sign me before I joined Chelsea. The team was in fantastic form, one of the best in the world," Cucurella shared.
"I wanted to go there. When a club like the 'Citizens' comes calling in that way, when Guardiola calls you, if you have to, you'll even go on your knees. However, the clubs couldn't reach an agreement," he explained in an interview with "Movistar".
"Brighton's demands didn't align with the market situation, so the deal fell through," the Spanish international concluded.
