Manchester City striker Erling Haaland believes his team didn't perform at their best despite securing a 5-4 away victory against Fulham. The Citizens clinched a dramatic win, with the Norwegian opening the scoring in the 17th minute. This marked his 100th goal in the English top flight, a milestone he reached faster than anyone else in Premier League history.
“I think people watching at home would have been entertained. It was a crazy game, nine goals is a lot. In the end, we won and we’re happy, but it wasn’t our best victory,” Haaland told Sky Sports.
“To score 100 goals in the Premier League is massive, and I’m really proud. Of course, it’s a huge achievement, it’s nice to be in the ‘100 club’. I knew about it and was trying to reach that mark. I try to help the team score goals, that’s my job,” Haaland stated.
“Every game is different. You can’t dwell on the past; you have to focus on what’s ahead. The reality is we lost to Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen, but now we have two consecutive wins and we need to keep this momentum going. Our schedule is tough. We have many matches coming up in the next month. We need to prepare game by game,” the Norwegian noted.
“As a Manchester City striker, you have to deliver excellent results. That’s my job, and people should criticize me if I don’t, which usually happens. I just have to do my work,” the forward added.
“The difference with Arsenal? They came here and won. Fulham is an excellent team, but we shouldn’t think too much about Arsenal. We need to focus on ourselves. Today we weren’t good enough, and we know it. We need to improve as a team, and we will,” Haaland concluded.
