It took Erling Haaland just 111 games to reach the impressive milestone of 100 Premier League goals, all scored for Manchester City.
The Norwegian striker achieved this feat tonight during City's hard-fought victory away at Fulham, becoming the fastest player to hit the century mark. He has maintained an astonishing average of nearly a goal per game since his arrival in Manchester in the summer of 2022.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Haaland openly expressed his pride in reaching this significant milestone.
"It's fantastic, and I'm incredibly proud. Of course, it's amazing to be part of the 100-goal club, and I'm happy. I was aware of the record and was pushing to achieve it. My job is to help the team by scoring goals," he stated.
"Do I expect to score in every game? I wouldn't go that far, but when you're a Manchester City striker, you're expected to deliver good numbers. That's my job; people should criticize me if I don't, and they usually do. I have to perform," he continued.
In a match where the Citizens initially led 5-1 before enduring a late scare, Haaland also praised Marco Silva's Fulham side and downplayed the significance of Manchester City closing the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal.
"It's important; Arsenal came here and won. Fulham is a great team, but we shouldn't dwell too much on Arsenal. We need to focus on ourselves. Today wasn't good enough, and we know that. We need to improve as a team, and that's what we'll do," he concluded.
