Calafiori and Gabriel will be returning to London earlier than planned due to setbacks suffered while on international duty.

Italy's manager, Gennaro Gattuso, confirmed that Calafiori has already left the Azzurri camp ahead of their final World Cup qualifier against Norway on Sunday.

“Calafiori has left the training camp. We tried to work with him, but he had a few issues. We thank him for his commitment; he stayed here for a week. He might have been able to play, but it wouldn't have been fair to him or to Arsenal,” Gattuso pointed out.

As for Gabriel, he sustained an injury during a friendly match between Brazil and Senegal. The Seleção's manager, Carlo Ancelotti, could not provide specific details about the extent of the injury.

“Is it bad? I don't know. It's a groin injury. The medical staff needs to examine him tomorrow. We're sorry about this, we're very disappointed. When a player gets injured, you hope for a quick recovery,” revealed the former Real Madrid and Milan strategist.

These injuries are undoubtedly a major blow for Arsenal, who currently hold the top spot in the English Premier League, four points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
