Tottenham Hotspur has officially confirmed that Italian international Destiny Udogie was the footballer threatened with a firearm by a football agent in September.

Earlier, The Athletic reported that a Premier League player was subjected to threats on September 6th, with London police confirming the arrest of a 31-year-old man in connection with the incident.

Subsequently, Italian website Tuttomercatoweb revealed that Udogie was indeed the threatened player, prompting Tottenham to issue an official statement.

“We have been providing support to Destiny and his family since the incident occurred and will continue to do so. As this is a legal matter, we cannot comment further,” the club's statement read.

It also emerged that “another man in his 20s was also blackmailed and threatened by the same individual. A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday, September 8th, on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, blackmail, and driving without a license. He has been released on bail while investigations continue.”

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the man who made the threats to Udogie is a football agent who was angered after the Italian international refused to work with him.

The left-back, who turns 23 later this month, has been playing in England since 2023 following his €18 million transfer from Udinese.
