IndyCar driver Pato O'Ward, 26, stepped into Lando Norris's car yesterday for the first free practice session in Mexico City and delivered a more than commendable performance.

However, following the session, O'Ward felt unwell and had to be taken to the circuit's medical center for examination. As a result, Pato missed his media engagements and was unable to fulfill his commitments to the team's sponsors.

McLaren confirmed that O'Ward felt ill immediately after exiting the car, but doctors later discharged him after a thorough check-up. The team did not disclose the reason for the driver's discomfort, and McLaren offered no official comment on the matter.

Pato recorded the 13th fastest time in yesterday's first free practice, completing 30 laps.
