Francesco Bagnaia's inconsistent performance throughout the 2025 MotoGP season continues to baffle the Italian rider and his team.
Today, the two-time champion looked every bit the rider who clinched back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023, and who was a strong contender last year. He dominated both qualifying and the sprint race at Malaysia's Sepang circuit. This stands in stark contrast to just a week ago, when Bagnaia finished a staggering 32 seconds behind Marco Bezzecchi in the Phillip Island sprint. Today, the Ducati rider was simply untouchable around Kuala Lumpur.
"I won't answer this time," the Italian stated when asked if the 'Peco' Bagnaia of old had returned. "In any case, I'm happy. The team deserves these results because I'm in trouble, but so are they. It's not easy to understand the situation. A week ago we struggled, yesterday I struggled a bit, and today I was competitive, so we need to understand exactly what this situation is, because I don't think anyone has ever experienced anything like this. We just need to focus and try to understand the situation. We need to try to work like this weekend. I'm trying something that right now gives me a better feeling," added the two-time world champion.
