Alex Marquez secured second place in the MotoGP riders' championship after finishing runner-up in the sprint race at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, where Francesco Bagnaia claimed victory.

In doing so, the Gresini Ducati rider and his brother Marc rewrote the history books of the world championship by securing the top two spots in the final standings. This marks the first time two brothers will finish first and second in the overall classification of the Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championship.

"I was nervous throughout the entire race; I wasn't riding properly, I was very stiff on the bike. But finally, I managed to secure second place in the championship, something I've been waiting for a long time. With Marc, who is at home, we are making history, and I am very happy. Now we need to enjoy things; we have three races left to enjoy and try some things for next year, but certainly to enjoy. I am very, very happy," stated the younger Marquez brother.
