Lewis Hamilton is calling for a strategic overhaul at Ferrari regarding their qualifying approach, believing it's costing the Scuderia crucial grid positions.
Hamilton qualified sixth today for the Singapore Grand Prix, outpacing teammate Charles Leclerc but finishing behind both McLaren drivers, Mercedes, and Max Verstappen.
Hamilton's frustration stems from Ferrari's pit box location, which is at the far end of the pit lane relative to the track exit. This forces him to stop in the pit lane and wait for other cars to clear, causing his tires to cool down and making it harder to bring them back up to optimal temperature.
"Our car felt good from the start of the weekend, but the qualifying results are disappointing," Hamilton explained. "In Q2, we were often at the back of the queue to exit the pit lane, waiting, and the tire temperatures dropped."
"Every time that happens, we fall further and further behind. This occurs every weekend, and we regularly lose tire temperature – the difference is significant, 6-7 degrees, and then it's difficult to warm up the slicks again. Those who qualified at the front exited the pits without stopping at all, and we definitely need to improve our performance in that regard."
