Arsenal, fueled by strikes from Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, comfortably overcame West Ham. Konstantinos Mavropanos started for the Hammers, while Nuno Santo made his debut in the dugout for the East London side.

In the first half, Mikel Arteta's squad dominated proceedings, with Timber threatening as early as the 5th minute with a shot that Areola parried away.

The Gunners thought they had opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Saka, but VAR intervened, disallowing the goal for offside.
